Looking at the Bright Side of Pain

Looking at the Bright Side of Pain | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher

Pain.

More often than not, we do absolutely everything we can in order to avoid it.

Then how does it always seem to rear its ugly little head in so many different aspects of our lives? Our body & health, our romantic relationships, our career, our family life – it appears just about everywhere, like an unwelcomed wedding crasher here to ruin our big day. Pain can kill dreams, squash goals, and ruin our will to live productive, happy lives.

So the question is, how can we minimize our pain?

This very question was the main focus of Soultiply’s most recent Monthly Mantra.

The purpose of the monthly mantra series is to supply our readers with a go-to positive thought to guide the entire month.

Unfamiliar with the concept of a Monthly Mantra? Here’s the low-down.

The mantra is a thought to reaffirm your choices, to gift you with inspiration, and to bring you peace.

Last month, the mantra was “You are not your pain! Step outside of the feeling and know that it is not part of YOU.”

The monthly mantra is posted every month on the following Soultiply social media outlets, so feel free to check out this month’s mantra there.

But seriously, what a thought! You are NOT your pain. It can be hard to comprehend, right? Because we love to remember pain. It just soaks into our memories. And when it’s currently present in our lives, it is all- consuming.

But the key thing is: it doesn’t have to be.

After a month long venture into the world of this miserable feeling, I learned the painful truth by looking at the bright side of pain.

The Ultimate Tool for High-Achieving, IMPATIENT People

The Ultimate Tool for High-Achieving IMPATIENT People | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher

So you are a go-getter, eh?

You earned good grades during school. Every day you write out your goals and to-do lists with fervor and you check off each completed task with pride. Your calendar is packed full with meetings and brunches and projects galore. You are a motivational junkie – you just can’t get enough because you know there is always more out there for you to achieve.

I feel ya! In fact… I’m right there with you!

But sometimes, there is a dark side to being a high-achiever. Sometimes the fast pace can trip you up. Sometimes it’s easy to get IMPATIENT when things slow down.

We just don’t know how to handle downtime! It isn’t in our DNA. It’s such a foreign idea, that when we do have that time to ourselves, we practically go nuts.

And it’s even worse when the downtime isn’t by choice. When the downtime comes because an idea of ours isn’t working as quickly as we would like, or we aren’t getting response on our latest endeavor, or GOD-FORBID we actually failed at something and we have to go back to the drawing board. If we don’t have something to show for ourselves in record time, we become discouraged because it doesn’t fit the standards we have set for ourselves. We’ve set the bar too high.

So how do you handle the downtime without driving yourself crazy?

The secret is learning to ALLOW. That’s all there is to it.

But I know a word like “allow” sounds really fluffy and vague and very very scary to anyone who keeps a tight schedule. So I’m going to give you 5 strategies to help you delve into the nitty-gritty of what it means to allow and how you can do it NOW .

How to succeed as a highly emotional person Soultiply Brittany Ritcher

Four years ago, when my boyfriend and I started dating, I sat him down and told him the blunt, honest truth. I told him, “I cry. A LOT. And I mean a lot. I cry when I’m upset, I cry when I’m happy, I cry when I stub my toe, I cry when I’m stressed. Sometimes, I cry just because I haven’t cried in a while. But I need you to realize, just because I’m crying does not mean that the world is going to end. Do you understand and accept this?” Luckily for me, he did. Crying was part of the contract.

Because I am proud to say that I recognize I am a highly emotional person. And I own it! And if you are having difficulty in day-to-day situations because of your disposition, or you feel guilty for being emotional–breathe a sigh of relief, because IT IS possible to succeed as a highly emotional person. Even if you don’t consider yourself emotional, but you spend lots of time around people who are, there are tips and tricks that you can use to navigate the ups and downs of your relationships.

It’s that time again – we have a new Monthly Mantra!

Before we delve into the inspirational goodness in store for us this May, let’s recap April.

If you are new to the Monthly Mantra Challenge, it’s not too late to find out more about the power of using a Monthly Mantra and to learn about our Mantra from April.

April’s Monthly Mantra Recap:

How did April’s Monthly Mantra lift your spirits? I used the mantra quite a bit this past month. It really helped me loosen up and brush off b1c27261b3347c6670440b643250cf5b the small stuff. I came in contact with some people that I believed were judging me and I used a combination of April’s Monthly Mantra, as well as the exercises that I’ve developed to guard myself from other’s negative thinking – and it worked wonders! It really taught me to love and embrace my quirks, and to find the sweetness and understanding in the quirks of others. And after 30 days of practice – we have all developed a brand new habit! Whoo!

So now let’s focus on May. Our Monthly Mantra for May is going to be two-fold: it will include a mantra AND a Challenge! The Mantra is…

April 2014 Monthly Mantra Title

Blog Seperator

Hello my sweet Soultiply-ers! I’m so excited to introduce an ongoing series that will be featured here at the beginning of each month – it’s called the Monthly Mantra . I don’t know about you, but sometimes I can be a little bit of a Drama Queen. I’ve always been emotional by nature, and it’s something I’ve really had to learn to navigate as I’ve grown older.  I know I am a powerful, confident woman who is capable of many, many things in this life and I work very hard to make sure that people do not discount me based on my emotional or empathetic nature . So I’ve come up with a system that has helped me in countless ways as I go about my daily life – I call it my Monthly Mantra.
