What Is Atol Reporting?
The ATOL Scheme
The scheme is designed to make sure that accountants who are designated by participating bodies are knowledgeable about the industry and specific requirements of the ATOL.
The ATOL Reporting Accountant Scheme
The purpose of the scheme is to improve the standard of reporting and to provide assurance that financial information submitted on behalf of the holders of the tax credit is accurate. The scheme is designed to make sure that accountants who are designated by participating bodies are knowledgeable about the industry and specific requirements of the ATOL. The Annual Accountants' Report is required to be completed as a term of holding anATOL, and is published in Appendix A. The firm and individual designated ATOL Reporting Accountant are responsible for ensuring that the Professional Accountancy Body is provided with the correct and up to date requested information.
Reporting to the Board of Directors
All members, principals and employees of the firm must be competent to carry out the reporting of the work they are responsible for.
ATOL Clients' Understanding of Sales
An ARA must understand how an ATOL client reports sales. An ARA needs to understand what constitutes a package and how it is managed and measured to provide an AAR Part 1. The consumer can either have one contract for all their travel services that are part of the package or they can have more than one contract for all their travel services that are part of the package.
ATOL Certificates for a Jet Transfer
You should get anATOL certificate when you pay for your trip. Your travel operator should send you an updated certificate when you make additional payments. Your certificate will show the elements of your holiday that are protected by the ATOL.
The ARA Scheme
The ARA scheme was developed by the CAA to help improve the standard of reporting and to provide assurance that any financial information submitted to it is accurate. The scheme was designed to make accountants aware of the specific requirements of the scheme.
ATOL: Air Travel Organisers' Licensing
Air travel Organisers' Licensing is called ATOL. It was first introduced in 1973. The government took steps to make sure consumers were covered if a travel company went under.
The travel companies contribute to the scheme. AnATOL license makes sure that the customers are looked after if a company lets them down by not giving them a holiday. It can provide refunds or guarantee people will be able to return.
Check. The logo of the travel company is on websites. Ask your travel company or agent for clarification if you are not sure.
Monarch LTA Customer Protection
Reports suggest that less than half of Monarch customers were protected. Unless those customers can call their payment provider, they are likely to be left out of pocket. Customers will only be given refunds for the component of the LTA if the provider fails. The Government will be able to create a separate trust to hold LTA levies to reduce the risk to the ATTF.
