It is not efficient for an application to create, use, and close a database connection when it needs to update a database. The connection object obtained from the pool is often a wrapper around the actual connection. The wrapper hides the details of the pool from the application.

The "close" method on the database connection can be implemented by the wrapper object. The method on the wrapper may not close the database connection, but return it to the pool. The application doesn't need to be aware of the connection pooling when it calls methods on the wrapper object.

Open Database Connectivity

One of the easiest ways to manage data without using multiple systems at the same time is through the use of the ODBC database programming language. Creating dashboards is one of the clearest uses for ODBC. Open Database Connectivity allows developers to connect their existing visualization tools to any database.

Companies that must interact with multiple databases simultaneously for analytic purposes can also improve their ability to draw information from a broader range of sources, as well as create more detailed reports. Companies can sort and store their data more efficiently with the help of the ODBC. Organizations can mash up multiple sources without worrying about their compatibility or accessibility if they choose to.
