What Is Costco Irish Whiskey?
The Kirkland Signature Whisky
Roughly 20 of the 50 spirit expressions that are carried by Costco are carrying the Kirkland Signature brand. The spirit selection can vary over the course of the year. The spirit brands are only available in the fourth quarter.
There are around 16 beer SKUs, one of which is proprietary, and 150 different wines, 30 of which have the Kirkland Signature brand. The Kirkland Signature brand includes four Scotch whiskies, three Bourbons and an Irish Whiskey, a Canadian whisky and a Tennessee whiskey. The notes on the last three bottles are below.
The Scotch and Bourbon expressions were reviewed in the past. There is no Crown Royal expression that is a substitute for the Kirkland Signature Canadian whisky. It is possible that the Crown Royal whiskies include a different blend of component whiskies that are used to make the different expressions.
The aromas of cinnamon, clove, and honey are on the nose of the Kirkland Signature Blended Canadian Whiskey. It is a smooth and sweet drink with a hint of mint. The finish is sweet and has a slight bitter note at the end.
Crown Royal is a blend of 50 different whiskies, each based one of five different mash bills. The mash bill for the Canadian whiskey is made of corn, 2%, and 1% Sherry. The Canadian government has rules about the amount of alcohol that can be in a single bottle of whisky.
The Scotch
Alexander Murray and the Macallan Distillery make the Scotch. Jim Beam makes Kirkland Bourbon and rum. The employees that work for Grey Goose make the same water source as the ones that make Kirkland vodka. Cielo and Kirkland are both produced in the same distillery.
Irish whiskey distillery: a new perspective
Irish whiskey is one of the fastest growing spirits in the world, and as recently as six years ago, there were only three distilleries on the island. The number has gone up to more than 20 and many of the new products are good. The average person knows about one or two Irish whiskeys. Smooth, slammable and inexpensive are some of the things that tend to be in those drams.
Instacart and the e-commerce system
We linked to Instacart because they deliver orders for the same price as the store. Prices and availability are not always the same.

The Lambda-M_2'
There is a hint of apricot and apple on the sipper. The mouth coating quality of the whisky is good. There are notes of brown sugar, dried fruit, and spices on the nose, along with a hint of smoke, and a bit of cinnamon.
There are some notes of furniture wax and leather. The color is rich and dark. There is a strong sherry influence on the nose with sweet dried fruits and almonds followed by a hint of scurvy and some wood.
The whiskey was matured in ex-bourbon and then spent six months in a sherry butt. The sherry aromas are more intense than you would expect from six months of finishing a sherry butt, even if it was a first fill cask. The whisky is oily and heavy on the palate.
It has a slight salty, spicy note that gives way to dried fruit and Christmas cake flavors. There are some notes of golden raisins and figs, Licorice and baked apple, and some caramel and milk chocolate elements. There are also old leather notes and a hint of furniture wax.
The whisky seems sweeter on the nose. It is equally oily and sludgy, and has a pronounced scuplture weight that is similar to the 20 YO expression. There are notes of dried figs, dates, golden raisins, and berry jam, along with almonds, marzipan, and a small amount of ginger.

The Origin of Kirkland Bourbon
Who makes Kirkland Bourbon? The Barton 1792 distillery is located in Kentucky. The Barton distillery has been in operation since 1879.
The alcohol content in the single barrel is 60 percent. The smell and flavor of the alcohol will be slightly diminished, but the aromas of fruit and honey are still present. Bourbon starts out with a sour mash, which has undergone the process of fermentative and alcoholic processes.
The minimum age for Bourbon is two years. Bourbon cannot be entered into the barrel higher than 160 proof and must between 80 and 125 proof before it reaches the bottle. There are strict limits on the proof that can be used before it goes into the barrel, after it leaves the barrel, and before it goes into the bottle.
