The Health Hub
The Care Concierge is inside the HealthHUB. The Care Concierge is the first point of contact at the HealthHUB and it helps customers find the right medical device, check in at the MinuteClinic kiosk, navigate in-store services and events, and connect them to in-store providers.
The Challenge of Retailing Medicine
The company is facing a lot of uphill battles. Vince Martin, a contributor at Investor Place, notes that the pharmacy business model that has been relied on by the company has moved from being perceived as a strength to a weakness. Amazon's acquisition of PillPack has investors keeping a close eye on the company.
The deal is still being tied up by legal scrutiny. Walmart has been testing a retail clinic strategy for a while. The company has 19 clinics.
Reports indicate that it is considering opening health clinics as part of its parking lot expansion strategy. HealthHUBs are another sign that the retailization of medicine is not slowing down. Major market shifts could be seen as vertical integration of major industry players continues and new industry giants gain access to new troves of data about patients' health.
In-Home and Online Stores for Home & Wearable Device
In- home and Wearable devices are available in 650 stores and online. It includes a voice-activated smart hub that lets seniors call caregivers or emergency responders without being held responsible for their actions.
HealthHub: A New Pharmacy in a Big Pharmaceutical Marketplace
The new HealthHub formats are seeing increased prescription volume and usage of healthcare services compared to a control group of traditional stores, according to the company.
The Future of the Minute Clinic
Some of the stores that are currently owned by the company will be transformed into "health hubs." The stores will include more health care services and products. Spring, Texas is a suburb of Houston. When it comes to making changes in health care, the company is not afraid to change.
The company is looking to change the way health care is delivered in the US. The pharmacy chain says it is where consumers are with almost 10,000 retail stores across the country. With the addition of Aetna, the company provides health coverage for 22 million people.
Some of the lines of business of the drugstore chain have suffered recently. The company posted a loss of $2.2 billion for the fourth quarter and lowered its profit outlook for 2019. The pressure is on the pharmacy chain to pay off the acquisition quickly.
It's not different from any other CVS at first glance. There are aisles full of candy and Band-Aids, a pharmacy counter filled with sodand a fridge full of food. The locations for the first three test stores were chosen because they have a lot of patients covered by the company, including commercial, Medicare and Medicaid businesses.
Hughes says that there is a question about whether or not the drugstore can communicate with patients' doctors. Some research shows that people with diabetes get better care from a regular primary care doctor than from other doctors or nurse practitioners, and some shows that people with regular primary care doctors have better health. The MinuteClinic will make money from the expanded stores, as well as from the sale of health care products.
The HUB Collaboration: Improving the Care of Chronic Diseases
The HUB team is improving care for patients with chronic conditions with a focus on recommending next best clinical actions and driving medical costs savings.
Optimal Traffic and Revenue in the Presence of Interest
Increased traffic and revenue allow other purchase opportunities when interest is lower. The pilot success could lead to other locations, which could lead to the brand broadening its focus without hurting the core offering.
CVS Health Hubs
When it acquired health insurer Aetna, drugstore chain, pharmacy benefit manager, and pharmacy compounding pharmacy, CVS announced its plans to pilot the so-called "HealthHUBs". The HealthHUBs are intended to provide a wider range of health services than a typical store, including spaces for one-on-one consultations, labs for blood testing, and more.
The Houston First Hub
The first hub in the Houston area was officially opened on Monday at 5408 Westheimer Road. In the first half of 2020, the company plans to open 15 HealthHUBs in the Houston area and eventually expand into 12 states on the East Coast, Midwest and Southwest. The HealthHUB network is expected to open as many as 1,500 locations by the end of the year.
There are approximately 9,900 stores in the US by the pharmacy chain. Customers can get care for sleep apnea, do annual diabetes exams and monitor their cholesterol and blood pressure. Free meditation and yoga classes will be offered in the community rooms.
Hourican: A Health Hub in a New Store
The company's vision for the acquisition of health insurer Aetna includes HealthHUBs. Each store has a health clinic with a lab for blood testing and health screenings. There are also rooms for yoga and seminars in the HealthHUBs.
Hourican said that in the new stores, less space is devoted to greeting cards, seasonal items and general merchandise. There are still toys, chocolate, ice cream and alcohol. They have more health-focused products, including durable medical equipment and supplies for asthma, diabetes care and sleep apnea.
Consumers are shopping online more. The drugstores are trying to build their businesses into health-care destinations that can draw people in regardless of what they're buying on the internet. Amazon bought PillPack last year, which may have further pressured drugstores.
The pharmacy giant is trying to leverage its ability to provide hands-on help with a new "care concierge" in the store who helps guide customers through the new health services and provides more care coordination between the pharmacy, the clinic and the other services. People can check their health at a kiosk inside the store. They can also talk to a registered nurse who can help them with their weight loss.
The new services in the stores are available to everyone. Some members of the company have a unique feature that they receive at the pharmacy counter. Patients who come to the Houston store of the pharmacy will get a special consultation every time they pick up a prescription.
Aetna and the Merger of AE
Analysts are expecting more business from customers that are ensured by the combined company after the merger with Aetna. In the first quarter, the company said it was benefiting from the addition of Aetna health insurance products.
