The Coronavirus Problem in the MLB

The 2020 regular season is scheduled to start on July 23. The opening day was delayed due to the spread of the novel coronaviruses and lengthy negotiations between the union and the league. The United States has worse coronaviruses numbers now than it did in March, when the league shut down and deemed play to be unsafe.

There is more knowledge about the COVID-19 virus and how it is transmitted, which makes it easier to install safety protocols that protect against infections, but there is no vaccine or therapeutic available to combat a novel virus that has caused the death of more than 130,000 Americans since March. The testing issues that plagued the early part of summer training camps will need to be fixed if MLB's plans are to go off without a hitch. It is important that players and staff are tested frequently and that the results are made available in a streamlined process for health and safety reasons.

A delayed test meant that the player couldn't work out on the day, but they would hope for better luck tomorrow. The solution will be difficult during the season. Imagine if the Yankees had to sit Judge because of a testing delay or the Nationals had to scratch Max Scherzer because of a bad injury.

The players' cooperation is the closest thing the league has to an internal confidence gauge. If players start opting out left and right days or weeks into the season, that will be a sign that things are not going well. Although it's a trivial matter compared to most of what's listed above, it is to be seen if teams will allow fans to attend games at any point during the season.

The 2020 MLB Season is Now

The 2020 MLB season is now underway for four of the 30 teams. There is still a lot to look forward to, and everyone else is set to start on July 24.

Opening Day: A New Look

Minor leagues, college baseball, high school, and youth leagues have the same opening day similarities. The general public is most familiar with MLB's opening day because it is the earliest in the baseball season. The Class A and rookies are exceptions as they begin June, but most minor league start a few days later.

Baseball seasons are dependent on location and weather. You always get a kick on opening day. You look forward to it like a birthday party when you're a kid.

Major League Baseball: The First Five Years

MLB's priority will be the health and safety of players and employees. MLB is working with a variety of public health experts, infectious disease specialists and technology providers to facilitate a safe return.

The Nationals' Max Scherzer

Max Scherzer is on the hot seat for the Nationals after finishing third in last season's voting. The 6'3" hurler had a 2.95ERA with 243 strikeouts across 172.1innings.

Baseball in the Wild

Baseball fans might want to take a break next March 26. The 2020 Major League Baseball season will start on that day, and every team is scheduled to play.

The Dodgers open the season at 60 games

The season will feature 60 games instead of the usual 162. The schedule is set up to reduce travel in MLB, unlike the NBA or NHL. Each team will play 20 games against teams in the other league, plus 10 against teams in the other league.

Cole is the most significant addition for either team, with both rosters remaining relatively stable in the off-season. Ryan Zimmerman and Joe Ross were two of the three players who opted out. No Yankees players have decided to not play.

Major League Baseball in the midst of an Epidemic

Major League Baseball is pushing forward despite the Pandemic. The league is planning on having a full season in 2021, which will start on April 1 and run through the summer. The Texas Rangers will be opening Globe Life Park to 100% capacity on opening day, and most teams will have fans in the stands.

The 2020 Baseball Season

The 2020 baseball season will begin on Thursday with a full slate of 15 games, but the company is going to start with only a few games.

The Dodgers' Game on the Line

A game between two opponents can take an hour to play, depending on experience. The time can be shortened online to 30 minutes. A computer simulation is very fast. Mookie Betts is on the Dodgers and Anthony Rendon is on the Angels, because the offseason transactions have already been processed.

Variance and the epoch of change

There are still concerns about the spread of variant and whether a new surge of positive cases could occur. At least 14 states have seen cases increase in the past two weeks, according to an NBC News tally.

The Chicago White Sox - Milwaukee Brewers Game at Guaranteed Rate Stadium

A general view of Guaranteed Rate Stadium is seen with empty fan seats and fan cutouts during an exhibition game between the Chicago White Sox and the Milwaukee Brewers on July 22, 2020 in Chicago, Illinois.

The Nationals' Game-Official Baseball

The Nationals hosted the Yankees in the season opener and had zero fans, but only played six games due to the rain. Baseball is back, and MLB is ready to go until Mother Nature puts a damper on everything.
