Traffic Safety Communication at WTSC
The traffic safety communicators in Washington are being helped by sample emails from WTSC. The Commission has created sample emails for multiple agencies and departments to share about their specific focus areas, with links to specific Target Zero Fact Sheets.
Net Zero: A New Limit on the Total Emission Rate
Net zero is the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere. There are two different ways to achieve net zero, which involve reducing emissions and removing greenhouse gases.
A Citywide Plan to Reduce Shelter Intake and Increase Live Release Rate
A detailed report with recommended strategies to decrease shelter intake and increase live release rate is provided at the end of each assessment as well as city specific follow up. Target Zero provides a plan for the city to achieve a 90+% shelter save rate within a month and progress is analyzed monthly to ensure that goals are being met or exceeded. It is estimated that up to 12 million cats and dogs are euthanized every year because there are not enough homes.
You can break the cycle to get rid of the overpopulation cycle. People who work in shelters will make sure that you have a great resource who can help you find the right information for your pets. The staff members will make sure that you have the right people for your pet.
Zeroing in 2050 is not enough
Net zero in 2050 is not enough. The world needs to reduce emissions by 7% per year between 2020 and 2030. Global reductions of greenhouse gas emissions would need to be 2.6% per year to be able to limit global warming to 2 degrees.
Carbon Offsetting in Science-Based Targets
Science-based targets do not allow carbon offsetting. Climate change science dictates that a net zero target should be reached by the year 2000 or earlier.
The final amount of CO2 in the atmosphere
The final amount of CO2 in the atmosphere will be dependent on when net zero is achieved. The challenge of staying within the agreed carbon budget is increased every year by the lack of lasting and substantial mitigation. Jaise is a lecturer at the University of Manchester. His research considers the operational challenges of the electricity grid from high levels of intermittent renewable to changing weather patterns due to climate change and smart grid solutions enhancing operational resilience of the electricity grid.
Water Management in Cape Town
Cape Town is using a relatively simple model to manage water in an effort to move circumstances from a critical zone to a position where the risk of running out of water is greatly reduced.
A 50 yard zero for your rifle
ARMA recommends a 50 yard zero for your rifle. The 50 yard zero provides for effective center-mass hits on target at the ranges where a carbine is most commonly used. A 50 yard zero allows the shooter to use a simple center-mass hold to the ranges of point blank to 200 and 250 yards.
The "Race to Zero" campaign: How far can we go?
A growing number of countries, companies and others are promising to cut their planet-warming emissions to net zero by the year 2050. The use of trees to absorb and store carbon is a popular way to do so, but it is still expensive and not yet deployed on a large scale. Only 5% of them are on track to achieve their net-zero target if they continue the pace of emissions reduction from the last decade, and only 9% are on course to meet their goal by the year 2050.
The "Race to Zero" is a project launched in June 2020 that brings together businesses, cities and other organizations that want to cut their planet-warming emissions to net zero by mid-century. The "Race to Zero" campaign will be held to its promises, but it is not clear how that will be done, according to the U.N. climate chief. The energy agency said that it was possible to reach net-zero emissions by mid-century, but that the pathway to get there was narrow and needed immediate action across all countries.
The Net Zero Challenge: Action, Goals and Prospect
The Net Zero Challenge, a new report from the World Economic Forum and the Boston Consulting Group, says that each of them have strong ambitions that are translated into targets and supported by an effective policy framework. The report shows that more needs to be done, even though the action is going in the right direction. Sixty-seven countries have a carbon-neutrality ambition, 16 have translated that into a sector roadmap with targets, and just eight have strong targets supported by an effective policy framework.
Five parties took more than a month to negotiate the agreement that will make Finland carbon neutral by the year 2035. The government will review the target in 25 years. It says that national and corporate leaders could make quicker inroads in the world as it is moving slowly.
Inbox Zero: A productivity expert's guide
Inbox Zero was developed by a productivity expert. Mann said that the zero is not a reference to the number of messages in an inbox, but the amount of time an employee's brain is in his inbox. Mann's point is that time and attention are finite and when an inbox is confused with a "to do" list, productivity suffers.
