Mass-transit options, such as a metro in the city of Doha, are being developed to ease road congestion. The railway system is being expanded and could eventually be part of a network linking all the Arab states of the Persian Gulf. The airport is increasing capacity to keep up with the increase in visitors.
The international airport of the city of Doha is called the Hamad International Airport. The former Doha International Airport was replaced as the main airport in the country. The airport was named the 50th busiest in the world by passenger traffic in 2016 and served 37,283,987 passengers, a 20.2% increase from 2015.
The culture of the country is similar to other countries in Eastern Arabia. The role of the annual Qatar National Day has been important in developing a sense of national identity. It is observed in remembrance of Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani's succession to the throne and his unification of the country's various tribes.
The media in the country was classified as "not free" in the Freedom of the Press report. Al Jazeera is a television network. Al Jazeera was originally launched as an Arabic news and current affairs satellite TV channel, but has since expanded into a global network of speciality TV channels.
The Soil in the State of Qatar
The soil in the state of Qatar is calcareous and agriculturally productive. Sand dunes are common and soil distribution is light. Poor regulation of irrigation has led to increased soil salinity in coastal regions.
Most of the people in the country speak a dialect of Gulf Arabic similar to that spoken in surrounding states. English is used in schools. Persian and Urdu are spoken by a large expatriate population.
The October 2021 Update of the Entry and Return Policy in Qatar
In July of 2021, travellers arriving in the country can register online. All travellers without a Qatari passport are required to use the Ehteraz Pre-Travel registration. Also, note:
The Ehteraz pre- travel registration service is not the same as the Ehteraz mobile app which is a different service to use once you are in the country. You need a Qatari sim card to install the Ehteraz app, while Ehteraz pre-travel registration only requires an email id. The October 2021 update is here.
The new travel and scurvy policy will come into force on October 6, 2021, at 2:00 pm in the country. The guidelines are valid until October 6. If you are travelling after October 6, please check the website.
You have to enter your passport details, visa number, date of birth, and nationality if you choose the Visitor option. They can skip the visa number field if they apply for a visa on arrival. There is a warning.
If a traveller submits fake information or forged documents during pre- registration, the passenger condition will be re-examined upon entry to the country. It is the responsibility of individuals to make sure that they are updated with any changes in the Entry and Return policy of the State of Qatar before they go.
