Numbershare is not a host
Numbershare allows you to use your mobile number on up to 5 connected devices. Even if you're not on your phone, you can still send and receive calls and messages. Your phone's host number is the one you share with your authorized devices.
Numbershare lets you share your phone number with all extensions. You can see the numbers on your bill. The issue is caused by the device being powered off.
You don't have to be near your phone, but it needs to be on and connected to the network for proper function. The host phone's function would be limited if it was in airplane mode or on a roaming network. It makes sense that the calls are showing your host number with the phone off, it's very easy for the network to forward the calls from your host number to your watch number.
The Number Sharing feature spoofs your caller ID to show the host number instead of the number in the watch. You are not correct. VZW says that calls and messages can be sent and received even if the phone is off.
The idea that the number cannot be a host doesn't square with the fact that call sharing works if the phone is turned off. The "host number" routes calls without the device being on. Sharing messaging is not working.

How to Sign Up for Smart Family
You have to download the Smart Family app on your phone before you can sign up for Smart Family. You have to download the Companion App on your child's phone after that. They can, but they need a specific code from your parent device to do it.
If the Companion App is deleted, you will receive a text message that will alert you. Even if the app has been deleted, the Smart Family can still function. The Companion App should always be installed for the most accurate location tracking and full usage of features.
Go to the menu and open the app to get rid of the family. Go to settings, tap account details, then tap subscription and then tap Cancel Subscription. You can follow the instructions on the screen.

Equinix Acquisition of the US Data Centers Business
In December of 2016 Equinix agreed to purchase the US data centers business from Verizon for 3.6 billion dollars. There are 24 facilities in the deal. Five years after buying Terremark for over a billion dollars, the data-centers business is no longer a priority for the largest wireless carrier.
The sale of the US, Brazil and Colombia sites to Equinix is expected to close in the middle of next year. Equinix will be a partner for data-center services. In June 2012 the Hughes Telematics division was acquired by the enterprise solutions division.
