The Walmart Wage Change
The wage change at Walmart is the largest private employer in the US. The minimum wage will be raised to $12. It said that would mean a dollar increase in hourly wages for more than 565,000 store workers.
The cab of the truck
Walmart is involved in many transportation projects. The company is trying to see if trucks can autonomously move around in their yards. The integration of the trucks to the yard management system is necessary.
That will lead to more flow in their yards. There are experiments with trucks. There is work being done to improve the efficiency of trucks moving from suppliers to distribution centers.
There is a project related to freight pay and matching. A command center visibility solution is being developed. There are new applications for the cab of a truck.
Open-source software for the Walmart experiment
Walmart technology projects are available in the Walmart Labs repository as open-source software under the Apache V2.0 license. There are 141 public projects listed on the public GitHub website.
The USA Swimming Foundation: A Survey of Walmart Store Hours during the COVID-19 Pandemic
Walmart was a vital place to stock up on household necessities for millions of people during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The realities of the virus made it necessary to change certain policies to comply with public health guidelines. Walmart has just announced a major change that will go into effect over the weekend, as the swine flu continues to diminish.
The world's largest retailer is doing things at its stores. The retail giant has announced that it will be increasing store hours across the US after they were cut at the beginning of the Pandemic. Walmart will open at 6 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, unless a state mandate prevents the change.
Normal hours for pharmacy and vision center locations are expected to resume on July 3. 64 percent of Black children have no or low swimming ability according to the USA Swimming Foundation. Paulana is trying to change that with her organization Black People Will Swim.
Wal-Mart vs. Webvan
Wal-mart has over 10,000 stores in over 100 countries and has annual revenues of $500 billion. Its online business is a small part of the total. Wal-mart is focusing on its e- commerce business to ensure steady revenue growth in the coming years since it is nearing saturation in the U.S.
Webvan went bankrupt after it tried to sell groceries over the internet. Quality and freshness issues were the main reasons why U.S. buyers did not like online shopping for groceries. While shopping for food, a customer can usually determine freshness by looking at appearance and scent, which they cannot do over the internet.
Online prices are usually similar to store prices. There are no cost advantages of shopping for groceries online. Wal-mart is a relatively new player in the online segment, but it has a large reach and is in a good position to provide better online services than Amazon.
Walmart's Social Responsibility Report
Walmart is working with experts, NGOs, suppliers and the company's own research to address social issues in the supply chain according to the company's report. The company stated that it would address major risks to the dignity of workers within retail supply chains by the year 2025. Walmart stated in the report that it is a top priority to meet customer expectations regarding CSR, which shows that Walmart knows CSR is important to consumers and is actively analyzing customer feedback and innovating to meet their requirements.
Walmart is Holding the Line
Walmart said it's holding the line. The retailer likes to see more of a return to normal sales. As more Americans buy new clothes, teeth-whitening kits and other merchandise to go back into the world again, it is doubling down one of its key competitive advantages.
The Environment and the Future
Companies of all sizes are expected to follow guidelines and laws when it comes to the environment. There are several entities that control pollution and enforce a set standard of waste disposal. The application of fines is a way to control polution.
Walmart has low prices. That is one of the main points the company tries to make in its advertising. There have been many tragedies and accidents caused by focusing on low cost, such as E. Coli in meat, dog toys that contain melamine, and childrens toys that are coated with lead paint.
