Happy 1st Birthday Soultiply! Check out the TOP 5 POSTS from Our First Year…

Happy 1st Birthday Soultiply! Check out the TOP 5 POSTS from Our First Year... Wow, I just can’t believe it. Can someone send me a virtual pinch and wake me up from this dream?

Soultiply turns 1 year old today and I couldn’t be prouder!

To think that a year ago today, I was sitting in that grimy subway car, trying to juggle 3 different jobs, when I had an idea that shook my world. One moment I was floundering, wondering what I was going to do with my life , and the next I was furiously scribbling down ideas for my newest, passion-filled endeavor. (You can find the full story here and .) That’s all it takes – one moment of pure inspiration. The rest is easy; the rest you can handle. That’s why they say, “the rest is history”…

I hope you’ve grown a lot this past year and I hope that Soultiply was a part of your journey. Lord knows I’ve grown a tremendous amount since I started Soultiply – I hardly recognize the person that I was merely a year ago today.

This year has been filled with ups and downs, times of stillness , and times of triumph. If anyone would have told me how difficult it would be to design, build, and maintain an online community, I probably would have chosen to curl up with my favorite blanket and take a nap instead!

I’ve started my Soultiply Life Coaching practice , I’ve written to you from the deepest parts of my being, I’ve been featured on some of my favorite websites, (like here and here for example!), and I’ve shared with you my authentic soul.

I’ve received emails, texts, and Facebook messages full of positive encouragement and notes of gratitude for the lessons and stories that I’ve featured here on the blog. And I want you to know that every single message brings me the absolute greatest amount of happiness imaginable. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. You guys sure know how to make me smile!

And although I look back at this year with gratitude and , I also realize that this is just the beginning. I know because I’ve only written 50 of the 493 blog post ideas that I have stored on my hard drive. As of today, I’ve only crossed off 62 of the 849 items I have on my Soultiply MASTER TO-DO LIST.

Ain’t that MASTER PLAN a beauty?!

This year has only tickled the surface of my life’s work. And without you reading this right now, none of this work would mean a thing. And for that, I am immensely grateful.

Although the Soultiply blog officially launched late March of 2014, the idea of Soultiply celebrates its birthday today.

And what better way to celebrate than with our 50 th blog post!?

(I swear I didn’t even plan it that way…we just happened to hit 50 posts on our 1st anniversary! The Universe provides! )

So to celebrate, I want to take a look at the top 5 blog posts from the past year and give you the behind-the-scenes scoop on it all.

Teach Me How to Soultiply, Teach Me, Teach Me How to Soultiply... | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher Do you remember reading the book in Elementary School? Besides the fact that my 10 year-old-self was proud of reading a chapter book, I fell in love with this story.

It was about a boy who came up with a new word for “pen”, and he managed to convince a bunch of people to start using his new word instead. As a young writing nerd, I thought that this idea was just the coolest thing ever .

And as I’ve grown older, I’m continually fascinated by words and their meaning.

Especially when we don’t have a word in the English language that can convey certain feelings. Here’s a great list of words that other languages use, but can’t be directly translated into English .

As an emotional person ,  I constantly find myself unable to fully express the depth of what I feel.

And I realized over time that I couldn’t find a way to describe the type of incredible change I longed to create in the world. I learned that not only did I want to fulfill my dharma and bring my dreams into reality, but I wanted to support others on their personal journeys as well. I wanted to create exponential dreaming. I wanted to ignite explosive positivity and action that would seep into the lives of thousands of people. But I didn’t have a way to describe this incredible thought in my mind.

DIY Simple Life: How to Craft a Daily Routine that Uplifts & Energizes You

DIY Simple Life How to Craft a Daily Routine that Uplifts & Energizes You It’s that time of the year again, folks. People are starting to get the sniffles.

I was stuck at home for two days this past week fighting off a nasty cold myself.

And although I would have much rather spent that time getting some real work done, there is one tiny silver lining to a sick day stuck at home.  As I was cuddled up with 4 different blankets (no joke!), and a nose to rival Rudolphs’, I couldn’t help but realize how it takes catching a no-good virus to get me to slow down and rest a bit.

Sometimes, when you have a low-grade fever and absolutely ZERO energy, you can experience a serene sense of calm that’s hard to achieve during the hustle and bustle of a normal day. The other things just don’t seem to matter – all you are focused on is resting and feeling your best again. I always feel extremely connected to my body and spirit when I feel ill, my mind just isn’t up to the task of dealing with the usual worry and chatter.

In fact, I remember back in my acting days , I would give some of my best performances when I had a fever. I just didn’t CARE how I was doing, so the performance was natural and uninhabited.

Strange, right?

But living a direct and simple life doesn’t have to be a byproduct of catching a cold. In fact, it might be one of the greatest things we can do to help us stay healthy, sane, and focused on the things that matter most.

It Only Takes a Moment: Using the Manageable Moments Exercise to Jump Start your Dreams

It Only Takes a Moment Using the Manageable Moments Exercise to Jump Start your Dreams | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher Have you had an item collecting dust on your to-do list for quite some time?

Honestly, I think there are a few items on mine that have been sitting there for weeks, maybe even months.

Sometimes you get to an item on your to-do list and it’s hard not to look like a deer caught in headlights. You stare at it. And stare at it. And you break out into a cold sweat and stare at it some more.

Because the next task on your to-do list is SO monumental, SO huge and important, that you have no idea how to make it happen.

And it’s easy to get uncomfortable and discouraged, and want to take a nap instead, or watch reruns of Full House, or any number of mindless, “filler” activities that pass the time, allowing yourself to procrastinate on your dreams.

And then, months from now, when you are still feeling stuck, you start to feel dejected because you are not seeing actual progress and your dream still feels SO FAR AWAY.

Daydreaming is nice, but living a dream feels SO MUCH BETTER.

I’ve been there my friend.

The guilt that manifests from inaction use to consume me. I felt like I was wasting time, like precious time was slipping away from me every moment I spent feeling lost on how to accomplish my dreams.

And that’s when it hit me.

Every time I pull up my calendar, or add a new thing to my to-do list, I’m essentially searching for the most effective use of my TIME. I was making the decision on how I wanted to spend my MOMENTS on earth.

Time is just a series of moments.

Something can take a year to accomplish or a minute – but no matter the time frame, they are both comprised of singular moments, one after one, that continue to add up until the project is complete.

And as long as you fill each moment to the brim with inspired activity, you will start to see change.

Decades or years sound very scary sometimes. But moments – those are easy! We can handle moments.

In order to create the change you crave in your life, you must break down every big dream into MANAGEABLE MOMENTS.

Friends with (BUSINESS!) Benefits PART TWO: The Light Bulb

Friends with Business Benefits The Light Bulb In business, you can’t do it alone.

You can either A) Desperately try to control everything and never ask for help from others (any of my control freaks relate?? Why do we do this to ourselves?! B) Work with random people who have no sense of your vision, or C) Find people who inspire us, understand our dream language, and help us reach those goals while enjoying the process along the way.

I’ll take C – please and thank you!

And oftentimes, the people that fit the bill ALREADY EXIST in your life.

They are right in front of your nose for crying out loud!

They are your best friends!

But sometimes navigating the blurry line between personal and business relationships can be a difficult task, so in this series we are looking at the top 4 archetypes of personal to business relationships, and the best ways to transition them for professional success. We will take a look at:

Today we are going to get down and dirty with a group that I like to call The Light Bulbs…full of luminous possibility – within a limited time span.

How to Stand Strong Behind your Work & Art, Even when it’s Scary

Create How To Stand Strong Behind your Work & Art Even when it's scary | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher Well, I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night…soooo…

Well, I didn’t have very much time to prepare…soooo…

Well, I wasn’t really invested in this idea anyway …sooo…

Sound familiar?

We dish these lines out like they are candy on Halloween.

The moment we come in contact with anything that we truly want, anything that makes us start shakin’ in our boots, anything that makes our hearts start to pound with excitement – we freak. We start to formulate the excuses that will buffer ourselves against the possibility of failure.

We can be afraid to put our name on our own work, afraid to say “This is my love, my life, my passion. THIS IS THE BEST I CAN DO AND I AM PROUD OF IT.”

Has this ever happened to you? Lord knows it used to happen to me.

Looking at the Bright Side of Pain

Looking at the Bright Side of Pain | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher

Pain.

More often than not, we do absolutely everything we can in order to avoid it.

Then how does it always seem to rear its ugly little head in so many different aspects of our lives? Our body & health, our romantic relationships, our career, our family life – it appears just about everywhere, like an unwelcomed wedding crasher here to ruin our big day. Pain can kill dreams, squash goals, and ruin our will to live productive, happy lives.

So the question is, how can we minimize our pain?

This very question was the main focus of Soultiply’s most recent Monthly Mantra.

The purpose of the monthly mantra series is to supply our readers with a go-to positive thought to guide the entire month.

Unfamiliar with the concept of a Monthly Mantra? Here’s the low-down.

The mantra is a thought to reaffirm your choices, to gift you with inspiration, and to bring you peace.

Last month, the mantra was “You are not your pain! Step outside of the feeling and know that it is not part of YOU.”

The monthly mantra is posted every month on the following Soultiply social media outlets, so feel free to check out this month’s mantra there.

But seriously, what a thought! You are NOT your pain. It can be hard to comprehend, right? Because we love to remember pain. It just soaks into our memories. And when it’s currently present in our lives, it is all- consuming.

But the key thing is: it doesn’t have to be.

After a month long venture into the world of this miserable feeling, I learned the painful truth by looking at the bright side of pain.

Join the Mind, Body & Soultiply Quest! | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher

I remember reading The Hobbit when I  was in 6 th grade. Phew, what a quest! I knew it was just a story, but I remember my little middle school brain feeling a tiny bit overwhelmed by the journey.

And the funny thing is, I still sometimes feel overwhelmed when I look at my own little journeys in life. I’m no Bilbo Baggins, but once my brain realizes the grandeur of the task ahead of me, my eyes start to glaze over and my mind goes into spaz attack mode.

But I know that even the largest, most difficult of quests must be broken down into smaller chapters for success. Or, if you to write a blog, (as I just so happen to do!) smaller posts!

And with this, ladies and gentlemen, I will introduce to you the newest feature on the Soultiply blog – The Mind, Body, & Soultiply Quest!

9 Ways to Boost Career Happiness

9 Ways to Boost Career Happiness | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher

Have you ever felt the real world give you a major SLAP IN THE FACE?

Owwww. Well… that hurt.

You know what I’m talking about – we’ve all had moments where our expectations about life were just blown out of the water, everything we thought to be true crumbled in a million little pieces and scattered off into the wind, never to be seen again…

For me, that moment came after college. It was the moment that I realized your career takes up a freakin’ LARGE AMOUNT OF YOUR LIFE.

In college – going to class, hanging with friends, studying for tests, going out to parties – these were all the activities that comprised a normal day. Life was busy, but everything was exciting and new.

I figured that when I graduated and started work, it would feel the same way, but instead of class it would be my place of employment. Not all that different, right?

So very wrong.

Staying in one building with the same people for 8…10… or 12 (sometimes longer!) hours a day turned out to be nothing like class. There are no mid-day naps. There’s rarely a change of pace. All of the sudden, you go home and realize that you only really have 4 hours or so until you start it all again . And even when you DO get home, it’s hard to keep all that work stuff from flooding your brain. There’s no off switch! Sometimes, you even DREAM about work in your sleep! Weekends go by too fast. There are no semesters to count the time. If you are unhappy in your career, this realization can feel like being hit over the head with a ton of bricks.

I learned EARLY on that if you spend the majority of your life at work, you better devote that time to a career that makes you happy.

Take a look at these 9 steps to finding happiness within your career, and start making those hours count!

Big & Beautiful: Giving your Accomplishments the Credit they Deserve

Big & Beautiful: Giving your Accomplishments the Credit they Deserve | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher

I’ve lost 6 pounds. Yesterday, Soultiply got a new Google+ follower and several new Twitter followers. I did this really excruciating Level One “Biggest Loser” DVD workout, and although it took me nearly a week to be able to walk without looking like Gumby, I’m going to do it again tonight. I did not eat Chipotle at all this week, because I’m saving up for a trip to LA.

What do all these things have in common?

They are my recent accomplishments.

Yup, and I’m damn proud! You should see me right now; I got this little smile that just won’t go away.

I read this beautiful article by the lovely Kris Carr that encourages you to share your victories as a way to build self-confidence. And I’m feeling pretty strong right now; It feels nice to write them out.

In fact, let’s do just that…
