Lost your Inspiration? It Might Be Where you Least Expect It…

Lost your Inspiration? It Might Be Where You Least Expect It | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher | www.Soultiply.com **UPDATE**: Prefer video? This blog post was also recently featured on the #SoultiplyLive Periscope show. If you would prefer to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of this post for the content + questions. Or just continue reading!

When I was 13 years old, I wrote a book called, My Life in 15 Years . It was a 30-page clip-art riddled manifesto, detailing every element of my future 28 year old life. It included such predictions as:

  • My favorite clothing store (The Limited, duh . It’s the grown-up version of Limited Too!)
  • My husband (my first boyfriend at the time…which is now my gay ex-boyfriend )
  • My favorite color (it was red…now it’s blue)
  • My career as a world famous actress

I thought I had it ALL figured out. If 13 year old Brittany knew that one day my passions would shift away from acting and I would experience a myriad of other careers (from working at a talent agency, an event planning company, a restaurant development firm, a market research group – you name it!), I think she would have fainted right there on the spot.

Soultiply was just a blip on a distant imagination.

But there has been one key element that has remained steadfast throughout the many passions and career changes. Something that hits you when you least expect it – in the most divine way.

INSPIRATION.

Teach Me How to Soultiply, Teach Me, Teach Me How to Soultiply... | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher Do you remember reading the book in Elementary School? Besides the fact that my 10 year-old-self was proud of reading a chapter book, I fell in love with this story.

It was about a boy who came up with a new word for “pen”, and he managed to convince a bunch of people to start using his new word instead. As a young writing nerd, I thought that this idea was just the coolest thing ever .

And as I’ve grown older, I’m continually fascinated by words and their meaning.

Especially when we don’t have a word in the English language that can convey certain feelings. Here’s a great list of words that other languages use, but can’t be directly translated into English .

As an emotional person ,  I constantly find myself unable to fully express the depth of what I feel.

And I realized over time that I couldn’t find a way to describe the type of incredible change I longed to create in the world. I learned that not only did I want to fulfill my dharma and bring my dreams into reality, but I wanted to support others on their personal journeys as well. I wanted to create exponential dreaming. I wanted to ignite explosive positivity and action that would seep into the lives of thousands of people. But I didn’t have a way to describe this incredible thought in my mind.

It Only Takes a Moment: Using the Manageable Moments Exercise to Jump Start your Dreams

It Only Takes a Moment Using the Manageable Moments Exercise to Jump Start your Dreams | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher Have you had an item collecting dust on your to-do list for quite some time?

Honestly, I think there are a few items on mine that have been sitting there for weeks, maybe even months.

Sometimes you get to an item on your to-do list and it’s hard not to look like a deer caught in headlights. You stare at it. And stare at it. And you break out into a cold sweat and stare at it some more.

Because the next task on your to-do list is SO monumental, SO huge and important, that you have no idea how to make it happen.

And it’s easy to get uncomfortable and discouraged, and want to take a nap instead, or watch reruns of Full House, or any number of mindless, “filler” activities that pass the time, allowing yourself to procrastinate on your dreams.

And then, months from now, when you are still feeling stuck, you start to feel dejected because you are not seeing actual progress and your dream still feels SO FAR AWAY.

Daydreaming is nice, but living a dream feels SO MUCH BETTER.

I’ve been there my friend.

The guilt that manifests from inaction use to consume me. I felt like I was wasting time, like precious time was slipping away from me every moment I spent feeling lost on how to accomplish my dreams.

And that’s when it hit me.

Every time I pull up my calendar, or add a new thing to my to-do list, I’m essentially searching for the most effective use of my TIME. I was making the decision on how I wanted to spend my MOMENTS on earth.

Time is just a series of moments.

Something can take a year to accomplish or a minute – but no matter the time frame, they are both comprised of singular moments, one after one, that continue to add up until the project is complete.

And as long as you fill each moment to the brim with inspired activity, you will start to see change.

Decades or years sound very scary sometimes. But moments – those are easy! We can handle moments.

In order to create the change you crave in your life, you must break down every big dream into MANAGEABLE MOMENTS.

Mind, Body, & Soultiply Quest: How to Create an Indulgence-Worthy Weight Loss Schedule

Mind, Body & Soultiply Quest: How to Create an Indulgence-Worthy Weight Loss Schedule |Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher

Welcome to the next installment of the Mind, Body, & Soultiply Quest !

If you are new to this journey – let me fill you in. This is a series on the Soultiply Blog that focuses purely on the motivation to help you achieve your body related goals, especially in regards to weight loss. This Quest will hold your hand, cheer with you, cry with you, and give you a big ole’ pat on the back when you accomplish your dreams. We may wrinkle our nose at vegetables or watch Netflix rather than workout, but the hardest part of pushing our physical limits is the motivation to continue towards results.

Today is the perfect day to write the next post for the Quest because it’s a very special milestone for me…I’ve lost over 11 pounds! I woke up and hopped on the scale and saw a number that I haven’t seen in over two years. I am extremely overjoyed, but not surprised; I know in my heart that this time has been different.

Why is this time different?

Because when I first started, I sat down with myself and got HONEST. I thought, “What has kept me from success in the past? What always seems to trip me up and get in the way?”

It was a little discouraging, to recount past failures and own up to my mistakes. But I knew that what I had done to develop healthy habits in the past didn’t work – so in order to see weight loss results, I would have to try something different.

Ultimately, after much thought, I came to some solid conclusions. For me, it boiled down to two things.

The Ultimate Tool for High-Achieving IMPATIENT People | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher

So you are a go-getter, eh?

You earned good grades during school. Every day you write out your goals and to-do lists with fervor and you check off each completed task with pride. Your calendar is packed full with meetings and brunches and projects galore. You are a motivational junkie – you just can’t get enough because you know there is always more out there for you to achieve.

I feel ya! In fact… I’m right there with you!

But sometimes, there is a dark side to being a high-achiever. Sometimes the fast pace can trip you up. Sometimes it’s easy to get IMPATIENT when things slow down.

We just don’t know how to handle downtime! It isn’t in our DNA. It’s such a foreign idea, that when we do have that time to ourselves, we practically go nuts.

And it’s even worse when the downtime isn’t by choice. When the downtime comes because an idea of ours isn’t working as quickly as we would like, or we aren’t getting response on our latest endeavor, or GOD-FORBID we actually failed at something and we have to go back to the drawing board. If we don’t have something to show for ourselves in record time, we become discouraged because it doesn’t fit the standards we have set for ourselves. We’ve set the bar too high.

So how do you handle the downtime without driving yourself crazy?

The secret is learning to ALLOW. That’s all there is to it.

But I know a word like “allow” sounds really fluffy and vague and very very scary to anyone who keeps a tight schedule. So I’m going to give you 5 strategies to help you delve into the nitty-gritty of what it means to allow and how you can do it NOW .
