Happy 1st Birthday Soultiply! Check out the TOP 5 POSTS from Our First Year…

Happy 1st Birthday Soultiply! Check out the TOP 5 POSTS from Our First Year... Wow, I just can’t believe it. Can someone send me a virtual pinch and wake me up from this dream?

Soultiply turns 1 year old today and I couldn’t be prouder!

To think that a year ago today, I was sitting in that grimy subway car, trying to juggle 3 different jobs, when I had an idea that shook my world. One moment I was floundering, wondering what I was going to do with my life , and the next I was furiously scribbling down ideas for my newest, passion-filled endeavor. (You can find the full story here and .) That’s all it takes – one moment of pure inspiration. The rest is easy; the rest you can handle. That’s why they say, “the rest is history”…

I hope you’ve grown a lot this past year and I hope that Soultiply was a part of your journey. Lord knows I’ve grown a tremendous amount since I started Soultiply – I hardly recognize the person that I was merely a year ago today.

This year has been filled with ups and downs, times of stillness , and times of triumph. If anyone would have told me how difficult it would be to design, build, and maintain an online community, I probably would have chosen to curl up with my favorite blanket and take a nap instead!

I’ve started my Soultiply Life Coaching practice , I’ve written to you from the deepest parts of my being, I’ve been featured on some of my favorite websites, (like here and here for example!), and I’ve shared with you my authentic soul.

I’ve received emails, texts, and Facebook messages full of positive encouragement and notes of gratitude for the lessons and stories that I’ve featured here on the blog. And I want you to know that every single message brings me the absolute greatest amount of happiness imaginable. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. You guys sure know how to make me smile!

And although I look back at this year with gratitude and , I also realize that this is just the beginning. I know because I’ve only written 50 of the 493 blog post ideas that I have stored on my hard drive. As of today, I’ve only crossed off 62 of the 849 items I have on my Soultiply MASTER TO-DO LIST.

Ain’t that MASTER PLAN a beauty?!

This year has only tickled the surface of my life’s work. And without you reading this right now, none of this work would mean a thing. And for that, I am immensely grateful.

Although the Soultiply blog officially launched late March of 2014, the idea of Soultiply celebrates its birthday today.

And what better way to celebrate than with our 50 th blog post!?

(I swear I didn’t even plan it that way…we just happened to hit 50 posts on our 1st anniversary! The Universe provides! )

So to celebrate, I want to take a look at the top 5 blog posts from the past year and give you the behind-the-scenes scoop on it all.

Trick Your Brain Into Easier, More Enjoyable Workouts with these 4 Mindful Exercising Tips

Trick your Brain into Easier, More Enjoyable Workouts with these 4 Mindful Exercising Tips... | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher I consider myself a lot of pretty impressive things – but an athlete is not one of them.

The only physical game I’ve ever won was dodge ball back in 5 th grade. And to be honest, it’s mainly because the boys took each other out one by one, leaving me to win by default. I was a cheerleader in high school, but it was for the basketball cheerleading squad, which (I’m not gonna lie) was kinda known for being the less talented of the school cheerleaders. It was basically just glorified dancing, no tumbling knowledge required.

All this being said – I honor my body’s need for exercise.

And that’s what is great about exercise. You don’t have to have balance (I fall over just standing up sometimes, so good thing!), you don’t have to have speed, or any real skill to start. You can take it slow and build those qualities as you go – that’s the point.

There’s only ONE thing you have to have before you can start a workout program. It’s not bulging muscles or a firm booty – in fact, it’s not even something that you can see!

It’s the proper mindset.

Without a mindset that is focused and determined to stick with a workout plan, the only progress you’ll see is your stomach progressing to a larger size!

So how can we prepare our minds for a healthy exercise program? And most of all, how can we use our minds while we exercise to make the most of our workouts?

I have 4 mindful exercise tips that I am going to share with you today that will transform the way you view your workouts. These are workouts FOR THE SOUL.

Pathway to Gratitude: How to Create Thankful Habits (SlideShare)

Pathway to Gratitude: How to Create Thankful Habits | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher The south side of 37th Street, between 5th and 6th Ave is my favorite street in all of New York City.

If you live in NYC, or you’ve visited – there is a very good chance you’ve never been on this street.

It’s dirty and filled with Midtown hotels and cheap wholesale clothing stores that sell nothing but fur or beads.

But a walk along this street has the magic to transform my day.

Without having to think about it, I’ve created a gratitude habit SO STRONG that it jars me out of worrisome thoughts without the use of my conscious attention. This habit has put my ego in its place. And it’s a habit that we all have inside of us.

And in this kick-butt SlideShare, I’m going to show you exactly how you can harness the power of your own daily routine to create a habit for unprecedented abundance in your life.

Buckle up and join me on the Pathway to Gratitude!

BREAKING NEWS: The Surprising Way You Can Change the World with One Simple Action (Infographic)

Breaking News: The Surprising Way You Can Change the World with One Simple Action (Infographic) | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher I’ve never traveled the world. In fact, I’ve never even ventured outside the United States. I know, it’s a little embarrassing to say out loud.

But thank God for the internet and all the technology that allows us to connect worldwide each and every day.

And it just makes me think…THERE IS SO MUCH OUT THERE IN THIS WORLD.

Millions of people are living out their moments in time every day. By that fact alone, we are all so incredibly connected.

What series of events had to happen for you to find yourself reading this post, on this website? Every choice you made today has led to this very moment. Take a deep breathe and soak it in. This is your incredible life to live.

Now that’s what I call a WHOA moment.

And boy oh boy, do I live for those moments!

Whoa moments can be best described as those periods in time where your mind can briefly comprehend our place in the grand universe. Those moments of awe while overlooking the Grand Canyon. I’ll never forget the time when I was reading and for a brief smidgen of a moment, I was able to wrap my mind around the fact that time is relative and all that exists is the present moment. No, I wasn’t high on drugs. I was running on a treadmill, to be exact. But I’ll never forget that WHOA moment for as long as I live.

Wait But Why just published a brilliant article about “whoa moments” and how they connect us to our highest selves. I strive to be in a state of awe, each and every day. It’s all just too beautiful to fully comprehend.

But WHOA moments are only little blips in time. And once they pass, the reality of our world becomes glaringly apparent.

For example, I’m not a fan of the nightly news. In fact, it’s probably the most depressing thing you could watch on television. I make an effort to stay informed on current events, but I don’t let them consume me. I choose to send a prayer out to those in need, and focus on deflecting that negative energy instead.

I know why news outlets exist. They aim to inform, but ratings always seem to win in the end. An anchor makes a hurtful sexist or racist remark, and the video goes viral. Their audience craves staggering numbers and incredible circumstances.

But what if we all chose to focus on this instead?…

Looking at the Bright Side of Pain

Looking at the Bright Side of Pain | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher

Pain.

More often than not, we do absolutely everything we can in order to avoid it.

Then how does it always seem to rear its ugly little head in so many different aspects of our lives? Our body & health, our romantic relationships, our career, our family life – it appears just about everywhere, like an unwelcomed wedding crasher here to ruin our big day. Pain can kill dreams, squash goals, and ruin our will to live productive, happy lives.

So the question is, how can we minimize our pain?

This very question was the main focus of Soultiply’s most recent Monthly Mantra.

The purpose of the monthly mantra series is to supply our readers with a go-to positive thought to guide the entire month.

Unfamiliar with the concept of a Monthly Mantra? Here’s the low-down.

The mantra is a thought to reaffirm your choices, to gift you with inspiration, and to bring you peace.

Last month, the mantra was “You are not your pain! Step outside of the feeling and know that it is not part of YOU.”

The monthly mantra is posted every month on the following Soultiply social media outlets, so feel free to check out this month’s mantra there.

But seriously, what a thought! You are NOT your pain. It can be hard to comprehend, right? Because we love to remember pain. It just soaks into our memories. And when it’s currently present in our lives, it is all- consuming.

But the key thing is: it doesn’t have to be.

After a month long venture into the world of this miserable feeling, I learned the painful truth by looking at the bright side of pain.

Shelving the Story of your Past

Shelving the Story of your Past | Soultiply with Brittany Ritcher

My parents bought a brand new camcorder when I was born.

You remember the kind, the clunk of a machine that needed two hands to keep steady and came with a shoulder strap and a padded case. God forbid you left the house without extra cassette tapes!

And the home videos they recorded are a hoot, let me tell you!

They aren’t like the little 3 minute clips that children of the Iphone Generation will watch someday; no, they are sprawling 30 minute recordings filled with the hilarious mundane moments of our childhood.

The crying fit I threw when I was too scared to run around in the sprinklers. The ridiculous playground games my sister and I created while Ma was silently recording us through the kitchen window. We Ritchers love to rewatch home movies. The clips just never get old. There’s nothing better for a laugh than my obnoxious, hammy persona in front of the camera, my sister’s awkward venture through puberty and 8 years of braces, and my brother’s sweet, yet sometimes girly tendencies he inherited by being smothered by two older sisters. I cherish those VHS memories.

It’s nuts to think that if my mom wouldn’t have recorded those moments, there is a good chance they might have slipped away with all the other undocumented days of my youth. Memory is a fickle thing; this is the proof of my past.

And it’s so easy to hang onto the past, especially the really good memories…or the really bad.
